Stolen Goat

An exploration of deified failures, capitalist hierarchies, and the inevitability of disruption.

Artist Statement

This work interrogates the deification of failed systems and the pervasive fetishization of worship, particularly as it pertains to currency-driven pursuits. Through a layered exploration of capitalism’s caste-like hierarchies, the piece reflects on the profound and often corrosive impact such structures impose upon the very populations they govern.

At its core, the work considers the inevitability of malfunction within these systems—where the machinery, meant to perpetuate order, is continually disrupted. The sensation of being ensnared within this dysfunction is universal, yet deeply personal. No matter where one stands within the hierarchy—oppressor, participant, or oppressed—there exists an unavoidable collision with chaos.

This piece further posits that the individual often becomes the wrench in the gears of these structures, whether by design or providence. This duality of agency and circumstance is both unsettling and enlightening. To embody the disruption—to be the wrench—is to confront the system’s fragility and its dependence on the very forces it seeks to suppress or exploit.

Through its visual and conceptual language, this work invites the viewer to consider their own entanglement within these systems. It is a meditation on resistance, complicity, and the paradoxical role of dysfunction as both an inhibitor and an impetus for change.

This installation challenges societal worship of broken systems, examining capitalism's hierarchical structures and their impact on individuals and communities.

It reveals the inevitability of dysfunction and the complex roles we each play within these structures.
